Corrections to The EPA's News Release On New Rule Governing Six Toxic Chemicals

On April 9th 2024, The EPA published a news release about its newly finalized rule governing six toxic chemicals that is peppered with deceptive spin. Its release and statements the EPA administrator made at an invitation only ceremony held for him to role out the rule gives the impression that those living near facilities that emit toxic chemicals now will have clean air.

The EPA's assertion that the new rule 'WILL' lead to specific large reductions in toxic emission from over 200 companies is aspirational at best. The word 'WILL' needs to be replace with 'COULD' throughout the regulatory agency's release. With regulatory agencies reliant on the polluting companies to self report emissions and loopholes built into the rule, the figures sited in the release that 'will' be cut by this new rule are grossly misleading. Here is a track-changed version of the EPA's release I worked up to correct the record that you can see/read here.
